昨天中信兄弟隊蔣智賢未創造「蔣砲障礙」，但他克服糖尿病、在中華職棒打出一片天的動人故事，卻已激勵不少人。

蔣智賢高中因為某夜連續喝下兩大桶水，家人驚覺不對赴醫檢查，發現他罹患先天性糖尿病。

他坦言，剛知道得到這個病，曾產生放棄棒球的念頭。但仍因為自己太喜歡棒球，仍堅持走這條艱辛的棒球路。

自從罹病以來，他每天都得注射胰島素，比賽每打三局就得測一次血糖，他坦言，自己是喜歡簡單的人，每天都得做這些麻煩的事，最初很難適應。直到有次看到新聞，有位小朋友同樣有糖尿病，卻坦然地說「要跟這個病當好朋友。」

這番話打動了他，他才逐漸接受自己這一生都得與糖尿病共處的事實。蔣說，打胰島素、測血糖已經成了他生活中的一部分。
